Took the 2.2 for MOT today, spent a couple of hours adjusting the handbrake mostly struggling to get the spacers of the hub so I could get enough movement on my adjusting tool (long screwdriver). Refitted them with a smear of the modern equivalent of copper grease. Hopefully they wont be such a bother next time.

Anyway, she's passed and no mention of the handbrake so must have been ok.

Happy Days:thumbsup:

Yep, 182,000 now Ken:thumbsup:, the car of course:whistle:

Great news Dave, and no springs either:thumbsup:

Good news Dave .
You'd never realise the high mileage to look at it......or when trying to keep up with it .

Good stuff mate. Semi retired though now so won't hit 200k for a few years now.

Always nice to get a pass hassle free .
Recently got a new pass on .mine the guy who did it said it's immaculate for a 21 year old car.
Well done enjoy another year.

True Dave but she's still on the road:thumbsup:

I’ve had spacer stick so use wd 40 and then leave it, no goodbye if you in a hurry!

Can be a real job especially after winter.

I may have tried copper grease stuff but I think it still stuck.
Some spacer have a gap to lever the from but mine don’t...

Yes, WD40 and a very thin scraper Dino. I'll have to have a look in a few weeks see if they are ok...

I have ground a thin slot on my spacers so that you can use a small pry bar or such to break the seal. I don't find it's bad thing that they do stick in general because when you're removing/refitting a wheel it helps.

Tony.

Good idea Tony, may have to do the same to mine:thumbsup:

That’s a good idea.

Would the slot have to duplicated on the opposite side for balancing purposes (or is it too matter small weight/circumference to matter like on the wheel)?
