Came across an advert on the local Auction site for a 1998 2.8L Palmetto Green Z3 with 58,000 km (36,250 miles) on the clock. It has a factory fitted hard top. Reserve was priced a little low for just the car without the hard top. Definitely priced low with the hard top. Possibly because of it's remote location. Was sort of interested so put it on my watch list to see what it sold for.
Auction closed, not sold. Fixed price offer was sent out that was a bit lower than reserve. I contacted the owner and made an offer that was accepted.
So, off to Greymouth, West Coast, New Zealand over the weekend to pick it up. Had a great drive over Arthurs Pass Sunday morning while the traffic flow was low. Lovely bush and Alpine scenery and a great mix of twisty and straight roads. Sorry, no pictures, was having too much fun to stop.
Car drives great. Not as much punch as my 3.0L, but still very satisfying all the same. Usual Z3 odd's n end's to fix. Rocking seats, broken seat belt guide and leaking A pillars. It has the M52TUB28 twin VANOS engine, so easy to add cruise control and a M54B30 inlet manifold to let the engine breath and produce a few more HP.
Bribed the wife with the old "One in, One out" line. At the moment, it's her car that is outside the garage with three Z3's inside. Ooops.

Seems my Z3 addiction is for rare colured cars. Mora Red, Siena Red and now Palmetto Green.
