Got a problem people. The alarm on my ///M keeps going off whether the engine is running or not. Its a new problem only started yesterday. Went for an evening run and got 100 yrds down the road and off it goes, reset and its OK for 5 to 10 mins then off again.
Strangely if I lock and open the car with the key no problem, use the remote and I get the same issue.

(Quite funny though had some cars pull over and let me by when the alarm was sounding .... A Rosser in a Z3 don't think so =))=)))

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Niall

I'd leave it and take advantage off everyone moving out of your way.

Thanks Steve nice to know I can rely on you for some sound advice =))=))

this is easy, just remove all evidence of the //m and make it look like a pre facelift then you wont need the alarm, simples.

Mate I'm no mechanic so there's no point in giving you a bum stear. So i though I'd try and make light of the situation.

Thinking through the problem.
If you open the car with the key and there's no alarm the car knows the owner is driving.
But if you open the car with the remote and the car gives an alarm i wonder if you were to reprogramme the key to the car might that settle down the problem!
But like i say I'm no mechanic

If you have 2 remote keys try the other one

When you use the key to lock and unlock the alarm is not armed. Try the tilt sensor in the boot left hand side under the hood pump for water and also your bonnet switch

Cheers will try that.

Sounds like either the alarm controller Black box behind glove box) has failed or one of your sensors or the wires running to it have failed. This could be a simple as a sensor loosing a ground or a wire becoming shorted or cut.
You will need a wiring diagram of the alarm, you will have to ID the sensor wires and test with a ohm meter for proper operation.
If it sounds like something you can tackle then start by looking at the hood switch and then door switches. Make sure your dome light works with the doors etc.

I have the same issue. I just don't alarm it now. I suspect the water leak from the roof window has affected the alarm sensor. After heavy rain the alarm plays up. It went off at 7am the other morning. Took an hour to silence it.

Problem solved! I had fitted an LED bulb in the interior light, when I was driving in the dark the other night I noticed it slightly flickering, obviously getting power and activating the alarm, so removed it replaced the old one and alarm issue seems to be fixed. Happy Days :) (but dull interior :()
