Previous owner had car fitted with a professionally installed cobra alarm system which was working before l laid the car up a year ago. Now it doesnt seem to work (won't arm/disarm). Last week l had to disconnect the battery when l refitted the abs module which l had just had repaired. I can't see how could be linked and thought maybe the battery in the alarm remote had gone flat, but it's the same for both remotes and l think it would be unlikely that both batteries have gone at the same time? What should be my next course of action ie is there an ideal process of elimination to get to the bottom of it? Many thanks in advance.. Alan

Cobra systems used to be the alarm of choice at Halfords Auto Centres if that is any help?

Tony.

Spoke to the guy who installed it and he said it was probably me disconnecting / reconnecting the battery when I refitted the ABS module that has caused it. He said firstly reconnection may have caused a spike.. in which case if I disconnect the battery and reconnect straight away it might sort it. If that doesn't cure it that means the code has to be reset. Apparently a new code is generated each time the alarm is armed and disconnecting the power can sometimes put the codes out of sequence (fob transmits one code whilst the alarm unit expects another). So he's told me how to re-code the system so I will have a go and get back..
