Airbag warning light on following seat removal.

Well, that was stunning.... seat out, cables disconnected to be cleaned (now I know where the tensioner cable goes) and lifted the carpet at the join where the loom goes into the floor... YIKES! Two inches at least of cold water sloshing about under totally wringing wet foam. It's all soaking wet. Given that the car has sat in a dry garage with the hood down since December, that's residue from the serious water leak I cured back in September, and it's been lying there ever since. Can't do anything else until that's all dried out... but it's an amazing quantity of water to have given no sign of being there at all.

Yup. Won't be a lot of Z3s without damp soundproofing, age just gets the better of things.

There's water and there's water. This amount has endangered species living in it. Never in my forty years of convertible Triumphs with dodgy hoods and rotten floorpans have I ever seen this amount; then again, it usually runs out of those through the holes in the floor.

That's the benefit of having a holeless floor, you see. It was much the same in my Austin Healey days. You coud pretty much guarantee that any water that got in would get back out again.

The carpets let the water through to the foam, but act as a barrier to prevent it evaporating. They are like a 'non-return' valve.
I had to cut mine at the centre console to remove them to 'drip dry' them. Gallons of water in there. Mine fried the DSC sensors too which are very expensive to replace! It still passed an MOT with no advisories, strangely. No, hang on, it wasn't strange the previous owner got his mates to MOT it with knackered DSC sensors and they ignored the warning lights. I'm not bitter BTW!

Still no further on. Removed the seat; checked all the cables for damage, cleaned and refitted all the connectors from loom to seat to sensor (unless there's one under the carpet at the main loom?) and warning light still coming on. Creator will not reset it - it tells me the code has been reset but the dashboard light stays on and refuses to extinguish, coming on again once the engine is started. I can see no visible damage to the cabling or connectors; wonder if it's worth while replacing the actual pre-tensioner itself?

I would. Swap it with a known good one and see what happens.
