Can anyone tell me please if ALL models of Z3 have an Outside Air Temperature Sensor. I read on other forums about the OATS but am not sure if my 1999 2.0 M52TU should have one and if it does/should does it play any part in engine startup? Also where is it? I'm still having my cold start problems but can't really tell from the Real OEM site in combination with the BMW wiring diagrams if my specific model should have an OATS, it has the Intake one and that seems to function properly; my car has no on-board computer. Part of the reason I ask is that I seem to have a lot of unused cables behind the O/S headlamp, a couple of the cables don't even terminate in connectors, they've been cut off. I have discovered that the exhaust flap doesn't function but the valve does work electrically, there is vacuum present and the pipes are connected correctly the only thing missing seems to be the ECU switching the valve on and off, if I apply a ground wire to the valve as a substitute for the ECU switching then the valve works, I cannot find the valve on the BMW wiring digram for my model so am wondering if the same omission from the diagram applies to the OATS on this model.

I am not aware of any models having the OATS unless it has the on-board computer or ///M series. I read somewhere that if it has one it is mounted under the front bumper - drivers' side just right from centre - but I could be wrong.

Good luck.

Thanks for that, pretty much what I thought but with dangling wires and cut off connectors I just thought I'd check.

I can confirm its definitely where cooper suggests had to replace mine with a different sensor on my last 2.8 when i converted the console to an ///M one as its range was totally different original obc to ///M gauge
