Morning all.

I seem to have a problem with my Z3 m43 throwing up fault codes runs and drives ok.
my question is around the air pump should I be able to hear it sticking in air ? And would this cause an engine management light to come on. When I squeeze it the sucking noise stops

Sounds like a leaking air injection valve - the bit on the cylinder head. This will admit additional air, and weaken the mixture, most likely giving a 'Lambda voltage implausible' code. It will also admit hot exhaust gas to the hoses and compressor, melting the plastic parts. Remove it all and blank off the port in the cylinder head - there will be no problems.

I have some blanking plates Carl. As Mike says it does not need to even be on the car. I dumped the one from my 2.0 Z3 when the pump bearings failed. It was fitted for the US market, California inparticular.

Tony.
