I don't know? sick of the way the rest of the world has handled this, its to little to late in my opinion this should have been sorted years ago, but we didn't listen. Proactive is always better than Reactive. Without Ground forces bombing just antagonises the problems. We have been lied to for years to gain support for the atrocities that have been carried out in our name, we are now paying the price. If you start something FINISH IT.

Just my opinion.... this makes us different from these extremist terrorists,it shouldn't be considered as acceptable to have collateral damage.if it were my family I'm 100% sure it wouldn't.and I'd be thinking about vengeance.BUT our humanity in 2015 where I can see and speak to my mates all over the world with a press of a button .it shouldn't be right to kill or maim any parents child in my name at the press of a button.Come on are we progressing any or are we becoming more aggressive in trying to make people do what we want?if so we're doomed.

Yes. Airstrikes with what? Increase Jags from 8 to 10? WOW. Strike wing in Aden had 32 Hunters. The Government (both lots) have got rid of the army. Reduced the airforce to next to nothing and has to borrow carriers to operate the navy.
What we need to do is issue uniforms and arms and ammo to the politicians and send them in. Let Cameron lead from the front. General Cameron and the Parliamentarian Regiment. Now that would really frighten them. It would certainly frighten me!

To be killed, to be bent to there will. 1 percent of the people in this world are indignant when the other 99 percent decide to get rid of the 1 percent that does not want peace. Perhaps when the world grows up and stops the 1 percent from emerging by peaceful means, then 100 percent of the people in the world will be at peace.

Interesting watching your discussion from across the pond. The same sentiments here in the thread are voiced in the US.

I'll admit my bias here - career Army officer, now retired and leading a small college. 13 years in Field Artillery, worked everything from 105mm howitzers to nuclear capable LANCE missiles. Learned to direct everything from mortars to Naval Gunfire, fast movers and AC130s. Conducting any operation is difficult to eliminate collateral damage...from the air impossible IMHO.

Trained as a Mid East/North Africa Foreign Area Officer - attaché, advisor, security assistance, etc. Spent 2.5 years learning Arabic - 1 year here in the US at the Defense Language Institute, 1.5 at our Department of State's Advanced Arabic Institute in Tunis, Tunisia and extensive travel across North Africa and throughout the Middle East.

Spent my last 13 years in intelligence - most notable positions were the senior intel officer for 3rd Infantry Division in Germany and then as commander of a military intelligence battalion for 2 years, also in Germany. I deployed the BN to Bosnia in '96 during the IFOR/SFOR transition period.

On 9/11, I was in my office in the Pentagon where I was a colonel in charge of the Strategic Leadership Division in the Army Strategy, Plans and Operations directorate. My office was located on the 3rd floor, 2d ring from the outside directly in the path of the plane. I won't recount my whole story - suffice it to say that I saw a tremendous amount of damage and suffering and am extremely fortunate to be here typing this today.

My opinion of what /was/is decided in the UK is not relevant but I will say that I have always had a deep respect for your military - worked closely with several British Army units during my career - especially with the 245 Signal Squadron while I commanded my battalion. Great soldiers and officers. I, for one, am grateful for your commitment and assistance in whatever form that comes.

This is, perhaps, one of the most difficult battles we have/will ever face as Allies and friends.

Reading this post makes for a democratic forum, it is good to see debate and comments from both sides..

I will say only this..

There is no winners in war... in the end all sides loose as casualties of war are inevitable. The big point everybody is missing is not Isis or this or that... its the cause. That being that my god is bigger than your god.. To deal with this cancer you first need to find the source to work the cure. Just cutting a limb off will make it angry like a rabbid dog and its pack friends will stick up for it.

I have friends who are muslim and friends who are jews as well as christians and non believers.. when we are together talking about our passion for cars we just love it.. So why the hatred and why the fighting.. You have to ask what the cause is.. and where the arms are coming from. ..
