Z3 Agean Blue Edition 2.0
Hi,

As an owner of one of the year 2000 Aegean Blue Editions a question that has gone through my mind on a number occasions is - how many of the 80 of these allocated to the UK market are still in existence? Other owners may have asked the same question.

To try and answer the questions I have been compiling details of all Aegean Edition cars I can find in the internet space. So far I think I have identified around 15 cars, but I am sure there are more out there.

I know I have seen details of a Mora Register and am happy to have a go at the Aegean Register, but I am going to need some help finding other cars!

I really don't know how far I will get, but with some assistance I am willing to give it a go.

Let me know what you think - Am I mad to try?

Just to clarify, I am talking about the Aegean Blue Edition which was sold in 2000 along with the Mora, Velvet Blue and Cosmos Black editions.

Hi Pentode, I don't fit your requirement of having a year 2000 car but I do have a 2002, 2.2 Individual Sport Edition in Aegean Blue.

I've been on this forum since 2012 and there are very few Aegeans on here, in fact I could count on the fingers of one hand.

It's interesting you quote a figure of 80 cars, this was what I was told when I bought mine in 2011. So, as they are so rare I wonder if that's 80 across the 3 years...

My MY2000 2litre rebody was Aegean Blue with white interior. The bodywork may now be black but the white interior and blue hood are staying.

Ah, yours was one of the cars I had on my list.:)From the production date you have given, your car was manufactured 3 days before mine!

Curious.
The 80 cars number where did you get the information and is it fact or just a internet obtained number and if number definite is there any info to be had on other individual z3's
Reason asking is i have 2 individual models and trying to find any build number data seems to be all but impossible to get even Bmw are not very forthcoming with anything.

The figure of 80 is one that seems to be mentioned an awful lot in connection with these limited editions from 2000. I must admit I am quoting what everyone else is and this may be completely wrong, but I have no evidence to say otherwise. I understand that BMW are not too forthcoming with information, so finding out the truth is nigh on impossible.

Totally.
I was only asking as i have a factory issued 2.8 Orinoco individual of which there is 1 on the forum bar me and i have seen 1 for sale all other Orinoco are 1.9 m44 and i also have a customer specced Dakar individual which could be a one of one and be the only one. Certainly on the forum every other dakar is either an M or a sport mine is the only individual.
So i asking in case there was a new source of info could have maybe looked into for mine as like you interested in how many were produced of mine .
I also have a 1.9 in Turquoise Green even though its not an individual model still a rare colour but eventually gave up as it becomes an all but impossible task to get any kind of information at all which is a shame.

It is a shame. I don't know to what level BMW kept production information for the Z3, but with the car now out of production for 23 years, I would doubt there is much advantage in hiding it from everyone. It hardly going to be of much use to rival manufacturers after all this time!

I am in the trade and know some of the guys a local bmw dealer but still got me nowhere really its as if
If Bmw hq actually have any production run numbers they are just not interested in helping in any way ( well certainly not to an individual if was big company or magazine something like that would love to see how helpful they would be then.

Yes, the 80 I was told about, that I mentioned in post #2, was by the dealer I bought mine of. No idea where he got the info from. No chance of finding out now as it was over 13 years ago.
