Addenbrookes Hospital

In Greece we have a saying “may he be soon as strong as iron” so this is my wish to both of you.

Good news - good luck ! Its a slow process . . . Time really is a wonderful healer.

I can't claim to know your circumstances, mine was different, motor cycle accident (head on with a Toyota Corolla), broken arm (healed after 6 weeks) and leg (problems). I had 3 months in hospital, 3 months home in a wheel chair and 2 years on crutches. I stopped counting operations after 13.

It's baby steps, but all things do heal. One day at a time. Rest. Recover. Don't Rush. Let the body heal and trust the experts.

Ouch , sounds really painful 😬
Hope your ok now 🌞
Alan got hit in the head with a metal bar which pushed him backwards and then he hit his head on the floor too
I had 2 police officers come to my door and say Alan had been airlifted to addenbrookes with life threatening injuries, I will never forget the last few weeks
At the moment all I keep doing is crying ………
But we will get their in the end 👍

Happy to hear you have got Alan back home Shelly. I can only repeat what others have said. Time is the healing he needs and you will see small improvements but others will likely recognise improvement more than you. Stay strong.x

Tony.

Glad you're both home and in familiar surroundings. Watching this thread with hope and a full recovery at the end. Small steps, big results we hope. XX

Good to hear Alan is home with you now Shelly. As everyone has said it's baby steps but he will get there in the end. Sending you both love and best wishes. D&P xx

I'm hoping Alan gets better soon Shelly, sending my love.

I don't come on here very much so I only just saw this post.

It's very upsetting.

Alan is a strong person as you know 🙂

We’re back to addenbrookes today 👍
To see a consultant about Alan’s eye 😳
The appointment is for 2 hours 😊
Lets hope we get some good news 👍
We did have a appointment on Tuesday to see about having plates in Alan’s face , but we couldn’t make it , so hopefully we will get another appointment soon 🌞

We didn’t end up going to Addenbrookes as Alan didn’t feel too well 😕
Hopefully we will get another appointment very soon 👍

I hope you get some good news when you do get to see the doctors. Stay strong Shelly.

Hi shelly, still here! Sandy kindly dropped me a message to let me know on Alan. Just had a read through the posts, so much support from people I do and don't recognise.
Myself and Jue wish Alan a full and speedy recovery, but in amongst this make sure you look after yourself. Alan is no good without you fit and well! X

Well said young Albert.;)

Tony.

Hi Dave , it’s lovely to hear from you , I hope both you and Jue are well, how are you getting on with your house .
Yes it’s been a horrific last few weeks, Addenbrookes didn’t think Alan would make it , the staff in ICU were brilliant, I stayed in the emergency accommodation, for the time Alan was in hospital.
But Alan is doing very well, it’s lovely to have him back home , it is hard work looking after someone, but I don’t mind , hopefully Alan will make a full recovery in time .
He‘s got to have plates on the right side of his skull as it has all been broken and shattered, also they think he has lost his sight in his eye , he’s very weak and lots a lot of weight, but it’s very early days .
He’s still on morphine as he’s in a lot of pain , but he’s been very lucky .
Its baby steps at the moment, but we will get their .
Take care 🤩

We're good thanks. We are too looking after people. We are full time carers for my Mum and Dad who both have Dementia, your right when you say it's hard work!
We wish you every luck in Alan making a fulll recovery. But as I have said, you must make "you time". It must be incredibly stressful seeing Alan as he is and tiring.
Have the best Christmas you can x
