Mine too, it's stiff as the devil and then lets go with a jerk, exactly the same as with the old cable. Waitin for the weather to warm up and then I'll strip the pedal down and sort it.
 
Just fitted a new throttle cable to by Z3 2.8. Took about 30 min and was £21 from main dealer.

Throttle was sticking when lifting off, revs slow to fall. Tried WD40 but no joy. Did not realise how firm old cable was until I fitted a new one. All good now.

While in the foot well I fitted a rubber door stop to the clutch stop to bring it higher, read about "BMW Big Clutch Stop" on web. Amazed at the way it changed the drive. My low gear transmission clonk has gone!!!! Best 50p ever spent.

Easy job? I mean for those of us (me) that are not adept at this sort of thing.

where did you get the big clutch stop from?
 
Both easy jobs.

For the throttle cable you remove trim above throttle pedal, two half turn plastic screws. Un-hook the cable from the back of the pedal.
Now contort yourself a little and look up in to the foot well and you will see where the cable goes through the bulkhead. Held in by two plastic tangs. Push them in with a screwdriver and it pops out of the bulkhead.

Go undertake bonnet and pull it through and unclip all the way to the throttle body. The other end is just a push fit ball.

Saw some very fancy big clutch stops, mainly on USA shops but just made my own. Unscrew flat clutch stop, its just a big plastic bung. Got a rubber door stop off Amazon and just used a self tapping screw through the hole in middle into centre of the clutch stop. Then just screwed the clutch stop back in. It was 10 minutes and is spot on. Rubber door stop was large version 33mm x 20mm

I have just fitted H&R lowered springs and Spax adjustable dampers and I am not sure which made me grin more, them or a little rubber door stop..........
 
gonna get me some door stops then! most of the american ones are £15ish!!!

Common problem.
You can try lubrictaing the existing cable with thin oil but if the cable sheath is worn out inside where it goes around some of the many bends then it might not cure it.
Pedal action is pretty light with a new cable, you have to recalibrate your foot after!

I have the clutch stop and can say it makes a big difference to the feel of the car and removing the "dead space" makes the shift feel more presice:thumbsup:
