Pick up the replacement z today, 1998 1.9

When stationary only the airbag light is illuminated, (still to scan for codes) has a replacement M steering wheel fitted so may just need reset or perhaps new ring.

When moving the asc/abs lights come on and flickers occasionally. May just be because it's been unused for a good while, but if it's an abs sensor that's faulty, would that put both traction and abs lights ?

Hopefully get it on a code reader soon

Many thanks
Ray.

Yes @Disky it would, as the traction control wont work if the ECU thinks the brakes are faulty. It could very well just be a bit of road dirt or brake dust on the sensors

Hi @Disky . I had a similar issue last week and this weekend. both my ABS and ASC lights came on together and didn't go off. I drove it to z Fest last weekend and lights decided to go out both together. had it diagnosed whilst there and showed rear drivers side ABS sensor. as lights went out on their own it could, as suggest by @Jack Ratt , to be dirt etc that has since worked itself loose. That said I still plan on replacing the sensor identified by diagnostic check.

Would I be correct in thinking each wheel has a sensor ?

Would a code scan show which one was faulty ?

Yes and yes .
Sensor on each corner and diag will tell which one if one is faulty.
Even if the lights go out if one has been faulty the fault codes remains on the memory. Stephen

This could also be the seatbelt tensioner connection, common fault especially if the seats have been removed with the ignition tuned on.

Sounds like dirt to me, the car has been stood for a while but as explained above a fault code should identify which sensor is at fault.

That said I still plan on replacing the sensor identified by diagnostic check.
I would clear the code and wait to see if it comes back, the rear sensors are a little tricky to get out as dirt built up over the years makes them solid, if the code comes back, change it, if it does not leave it.
