On a trip out yesterday to Devon the abs light came on and stayed on, and on return journey it went out, then after a few miles came on again and stayed on. Never had this problem on any car, any suggestions please, a loose/bad connection, failing sensor ? MOT due August and think this would be a fail ? Geoff

It needs a code read really Geoff to tell, it should point you at a bad sensor if its the source of your problem:thumbsup:

Yes I have got a code reader on my laptop if I can remember how to use it, my nephew who has various BMWs installed it for my, will have to ask him what to do.
Thanks. Geoff

If the light was on at the time of test it would fail unfortunately Geoff.

Tony.

Sounds like a failing sensor or sensor wire if the light been on the fault should be logged in the memory so even if the light not on now a diagnosis will tell you which corner problematic.
As @t-tony said is only a mot fail if the light is on at the time of the mot.
If was off at start of mot and came on during the test would still fail.

My ABS light was an MOT failure. It was the ABS pump, got it refurbished at a cost of £ 120

Its gone out now, my wife pressed the ASC switch while we were on the move when I asked if my heated seat had been switched on, so panic over
