A year ago today Alan was flown to Addenbrookes where he stayed for a few weeks 🄲
The team at the hospital didn’t think he would pull through 🄲
I was told he may not remember me or anything else if he got through this it would be a miracle 😭
A year on …….
Alan is doing extremely well šŸ‘
Yes he’s blind in one eye ,has brain damage on the right side of his head , forgets a lot of things even if I’ve told him something 5 mins ago , if we watch a film 15 mins into it he’s forgotten what the plot is meant to be , he’s got 38 brakes and fractures on the right side of his face , ( he might have surgery to correct this as his face has sunken in ) and a lot of other things going on too . šŸŒžšŸŒž
Were still going to Addenbrookes , still going to rehabilitation, and seeing doctors at Harley street to see if they can help him too .
Me …..
Im ok , I still cry a lot and get really emotional, it’s very hard for me to talk about this as if I do it upsets me for days 🄲
But were pulled through one year , and this time next year things for the two of us will be even better 🄰🄰

Thank you @AleNod šŸ‘
Thank you for your message šŸŒž
Yes it’s hard for people to reply šŸŒž
When people see Alan he looks normal and people say ā€œ there is nothing wrong with him ā€œ as a few of my friends have said , but I said to them it’s not visually šŸŒž
But we’re both doing well, especially Alan ā™„ļø

Hello Shelley, as already commented it is difficult to know how to phrase things in these circumstances.
Very brave and admirable of you to go public. Glad you are now doing well. Hope you continue to get the help and support you both need. Good Luck - keep using Snow White.

Hi Shelly I’m glad that you have posted an update. I can appreciate on how the man you love is not the same and must be cruel for you to see what Alan is going through, but every bit of progress another victory. I hope you have even more positive news to post in the future.

The truth is that we can not even imagine what you are going through but we understand how brave and compassionate you are.
Never met you and probably never will, but from what you write and reading between the lines of your updates, I admire you and certainly are a companion I wish I had in my life.
Few people have this quality and even fewer have the politeness and sentimental balance you demonstrate.
I wish that Alan gets better and I will light a candle for both of you tonight.
Thank you for giving us hope that no matter where this world is going to, there will still be people with ā€œareteā€.

Pleased to hear that Alan is progressing Shelly, but it must be really hard for you to see Alan how he is now. Pauline and I met up with Mike & Sandy earlier this year and we did ask about you two. Love and Hugs to you both, Dave & Pauline xx

Great news Alan is defying the doctors may it continue. Obviously its a struggle for you both but I'm sure with Alans strength and determination you'll get there.
Wishing you both well Shelly
