Picked these up today from a chap who has sold his 2.2 :

Books are mint. A little bedtime reading with a cuppa and battenberg £20 the lot. Ooh, got a free oil filter thrown in too (unused I hasten to add!)

That was what I thought too Garry. I had a hardback Bentley Publishers workshop manual off him a few weeks ago, near mint and £20 also. His 2.2 had a hard task getting through mot emissions each year due to oil usage the 2.2's are known for. He did a compression test which showed two cylinders down. Decided to move it on to 'We buy any car' for around £2k.Was a nice car though, met him about 3years ago when he was selling something on "t'other channel"!

My 2.2i never uses any oil. Derbyshire to Spain for a month this year and the level never moved!

Think mine may be using all yours, then. Come to the conclusion that it must be gummed-up rings. And I feel that may be expensive.
