Are the new shaped KAs as bad? Our son has a 5 year old one. :nailbiting:
Don't worry Ian it's a complete different car these days. Same as the Fiat Panda and Chrysler Ipsolon? There's very little which rots away anymore.

Tony.

The new shape is very good. Drives like a much bigger car. Very sure footed. Not quick but comfortable and competent.

Ian the new Ka is a much better put together as already mentioned sits on the small Fiat platform and powered by the Punto 1.2
Engine generally reliable if maintained only achilles heel is the sump i would stick my head underneath and have a look really bad fo rotting down the front and along the bottom.
Tomorrow i am fitting front brakes to a 2012 30k Panda and at the same time i am going to wire brush and rust treat and protect the sump as it is already quite corroded.

I had a 2010 KA 1.3 diesel for a couple of months through work and it was brill to be fair. Little fiat engine went along pretty well.

I secretly wanted a Sport KA and the think convertible looks brilliant, like concept car and hasn’t aged.
Great fun to chuck around but the engines were not Fords best.

Looked at a few older ka's for my daughter when she just passed her test but could not find one without rust . Ended up buying a nisson micra which was rust free & had 30000 miles on the clock.

I found that buying a newer car resulted in lower insurance costs.

Got fully comp insurance from a major insurer for the KA in my sons name down to just over £600 for his second year and that is without a tracker and is down £400 from his first year (just a few weeks after passing his test).
He's driving newer (5 year old) safer car and it cost less overall than a 8-10 year old car.

I think thats a result for a 19 year old.
