I’ve read that the government is paying to transport water into the affected areas. Also read that trees are being felled due to their water consumption and some farmers have simply shut up shop. Sounds very bad. I recall this time last year that it was abnormally hot in Australia so it looks much the same this year - unfortunately. Keep hydrated.
Thank ktnez. Dairy farmers in Queensland are selling their herds, graziers are downsizing flocks of sheep and beef cattle and are buying in food at exorbitant prices. There is a drought relief concert here in town today (Saturday) to raise money to pay for free fodder for animals because the farmers are doing it really badly. Have not heard about cutting trees down because they suck up water, but there are trees that are useful for stock food and some of those are being utilised.
