Ok folks been thinking about events/meets for this year and an idea occurred to me as follows- What we need is first of all some king of mascot, maybe a grumpy gnome/dwarf of some kind (for some reason they seem popular on here, or just a cuddly toy.

Then we need to arrange meets for members, they can carry the mascot to the meet, take pics.

Using the members map we need to arrange meets across the country with at least one member attending two meets so the mascot can be passed on, let’s see how many miles we can put on our mascot (pics can be either in the cars or use your imagination (maybe under a sign post)

This could be called the epic zed rally, if we can get it out of the uk even better.

Ideas please.

Nice idea @littlefeller but we already have our own @Grumpy and I'm not sure he'd like to be passed around like that =))

Always happy for fun stuff like this to be organised. In the past we had "Zed Driver Bear" who was eventually adopted by @zedwheels. Still makes regular trips out, and has his own passport!

Maybe we could organise another one, and then raffle it off for charity after the seasons cruises? If we got all the members to sign a "passport" then it could be interesting to see how many signatures at the end of the year.

sounds good to me, also gives it a purpose, or we keep it a secret, only the person carrying it would know (other than the person who passed it on), then at the end of the season we can have a lottery on where it ended up, closest (except for the two that would know) wins a percentage of the lotto the rest to charity.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to keep it secret. How about each person carrying it logs the number of miles they drive from and to the meets where they collected and dropped off the mascot. Then at the end of the season the lottery is to guess how many miles it travelled? It would just need one person to be the keeper of the mileage.

Loving the idea but why wait until a cruise. Lets say in the main there might be something like 20 miles between our members we could get the miles clocking up. As for keeping the where abouts of the toy surely our members would need to know so the closest members can move it on. Lets see how north in Scotland. How south in Cornwall. Around Wales not forgetting Ireland and even the Islands of IOM and IOW.
I'm up for this

I will be in England, Wales, Germany, Ireland, Prague in early 2017 so If someone gives him to me I could make sure her gets to an exotic place - including Australia! :) If I had him for the journey I can get a pix of him in all those places - then send him to NZ!

OK this sounds like a plan. I would be happy to sort out a mascot.....another Zeddy Bear would seem appropriate. We could also have a fun competition to name him...what do you think?

Can you also make him a realistic looking passport so we can get it stamped by real border staff? I hope they will do it in the name of fun!

im sure that you can get stamp-able passports for inanimate objects if its for charity, I have seen teddy bears get there passports for fundraising.

Please Do not choose a silly Gnome!! Otherwise a nice idea

No, not a good idea, if I was given that, I would sell it to a Chinese restaurant and tell everyone it ran away.
That's mean Teddy is sooo cute lovely dog and proper cuddly just like a Teddy

I'm cuddly too =))

Shame its not going to be a secret - I was just thinking a GPS tracker with a global phone card:ymdevil: =))

Just a few more ideas....

The littefella (no not you @littlefeller) or littlelass, whichever it is, will need its own account and posting rights (only to be used by its current keeper of course) so he/she can keep us all up to date with what's happening, where they've been, who they've met, to post selfies etc.

We should set a challenge to try and get them sat in more cars than @BMBabe - and run a competition on how many different Zeds (along with the respective owner) they can be photographed in during 12 months or whatever period.

Don't want to detract from sales of the calendar, but we could even do an online printed book of credited images to sell to everyone with any profits to charity too!
