So, we escaped from work 5 minutes early getting home to a few days away from work, oh yeah!. Don't forget you have to build Xander's Go-kart Shirl told me.;) Anyway didn't take me too long and here it is all ready for him on Boxing Day.

If he's half the crazy boy our Gary was on his, he'll absolutely love it

Tony.

Excellent I'm sure he'll love it.

I'm just watching Red Bull Soapbox Racing and was thinking a Z3 soapbox would look great.

Our boys weren't interested in cars, bikes or anything I was into as a kid. All they wanted was footballs, boots and football kit. They both had bikes one year and rode them on Christmas day and Boxing day then they never came out again.
We ended up giving the bikes away. We had an attic full of toys that they never played with. We've kept some of them so that we can hand them down to our grand children, if we ever have any.

Your grandson will love that @t-tony

None mate, I planned it really well and did it straight after lunch!

Tony.

That looks great fun Tony your grandson will love it :coolsteer).
I loved my go cart as a kid but mine was made from old pallets and had pram wheels on it.
Hope it's fit for it's mot ;)=)).

Steve

Yeah, me too Steve! I was always scrounging old pram wheels and wood to make 'Trolleys' as I called them. I don't think 'Go-carts' had been invented then. I often wonder what Health and Safety would have made of my end products! Spoked wheels spinning round next to my young hands, very little in the way of a brake and nails and screws sticking out all over. No helmets, knee or elbow pads then either. My knees and elbows had permanent scabs when I was a kid!

Very true Ken, but boy was it fun! We even made a four way steer version by making both axles pivot at the centre and connecting opposite corners with some copper pipe. We thought we were very clever up until Dad announced the some Bugger had half inched the copper pipe out of the shed the he had half inched from somewhere to extend our central heating!!=))=))

UPDATE !!!
Had to return to the pits for decal fitting as I needed an assistant!

Shoes provided all the braking.
Ours were always home made from what we could get. I was always jealous of my mate over the road - amongst other businesses his family had a HGV transport business - they made him a trolley from tubular steel in the workshop. It was the quickest, strongest and best trolley ever!
I bet young Xander is going to be rocketing around for hours Tony. He'll be happy as a pig in muck! Then you can show him how to do donuts :D

We best not show him the video of his uncle Gary at his age, man he was crazy on that thing, one day I might get it on YouTube =))

Tony.

ps. We're very happy he's never driven motor vehicles how he drove that!

PROJECT No.2

This is for no.2 grandson Reid who is only 2 and a bit. Just had to move the seat forwards for him as he's taking after his mum (short arse);)=))=))

Had a similar cart as a kid Tony and loved every minute of it. Hope you and Shirl have a fantastic time mate with the grandkids.

Cheers Dave, just going over to the Mucky Duck with Gaz and Sarah and little Izzy, bless her she's just been walking across out front room  Merry Christmas to you all mate, enjoy. See you soon.

Mike, I know you would be mate, Merry Christmas buddy, hope you have a great one!

Tony and Shirl.

We've still got our kids Go-Kart from 25 years ago. They had so much fun with it we cannot get rid of it even to a good home. Must be a Classic now.

Hope the little ones enjoy as much as our did.

PS Merry Christmas to you and Shirl.

Thanks mate, all the very best you and the family.

Tony.

Loved my go carts as a kid I used pedal as fast as I could then jam my legs to stop the pedal that sent it into a kid and then apply full lock to slid the back end out used to do this for hours. I was really peeved when I got to big for it and found push bikes boring in comparison.

Loved to see your grandsons face when he claps his eyes on that. Have a good one:reindeer:
