So some of you know when I'm not tinkering in the zed shed I'm one of very few people on a very unique project building a prototype fusion reactor. I've been working on this project 3 years now and its really satisfying to see it getting to this point. I'll let the pictures do the talking!

This is the end plate (The lid) in all her glory without any graphite armour.

After being flipped over she's being lifted to meet the vessel

They finally meet this took 8 hours to fit earlier this week.

I, meanwhile, in the Netherlands, have perfected 'The Dutch Oven'.....:D

Is this the first ///M powered reactor? Spotted the M shirt there!

This makes working on Z's in your shed look easy, look at all that space you have to work underneath! so clean and shines too!!

Some really interesting photos there Lee it must be awesome to watch this project development

Plasma Physics, interesting subject that has me lost at "good morning" :arghh: swiftly followed by "get out you clown!" :arghh: :(

Nice one all the same

What's the weird looking blob thing popping out in picture 2! =))
Joking apart mate it really is amazing stuff what your doing. Having seen the video of the little one pulsating away it really is a James Bond job! If all this becomes successful will we get free energy bills!!! :D

The only bit I understood was 'This site uses cookies to store information on your computer.'

Very interesting :p
Lovely job your got :)

OMG and they let you take photos :woot: looks very expensive S/S or Titanium will need to have a better read when I have the time, will they allow visits  if so first on the list please as so many questions:bookworm:

Now that is some toy!
Let's have some of theory then :D

It's not quite how I expected it to look. Where are the toroidal coils that constrain the plasma?
What is used as the plasma? Is it a light nucleus like hydrogen or a heavy one like lead that they use in the
LHC?
How long does it take to get the plasma up to the required energy?
Will it operational before ITER and what are the expectations?

Yep, agreed on all points, I was just thinking the same :wideyed: :woot:

Yeh and where is the GAS meter=))

Very impressive Lee!
And a little bit scary too...

That should be on Dr Who. Where do the Daleks sleep Lee? That looks a serious piece of kit mate. Looking forward to my visit to your most important place of work =))=))

By the way @Lee, how do you start that thing up?
Chuck a lit bog roll into it....?
Needs a bit more than that. Half a dozen bangers strapped together with duct tape should do it!
Not that I've ever done that :D

Of course not ..... me neither =))
Might have done something like that along with adding a decent sized bolt and then chuck them in a neighbours water butt. Impressive doesn't cover it. Of course - don't try this at home children
It was a different world back then!

Not that I've ever done that :D

Don't get me started on that..!! New Years Eve over here is mental....
In all the years, I have burnt down a hedge, destroyed a bed room window and contents, a kitchen door when a rocket went through the open front door across the road, the list goes on.

All in the name of science we made a "spud" bazooka from an old piece of drain pipe, powered by some hair spray and a match. It shot a big potato the length of the school football pitch
