Looking good for an R Reg and low mileage, just be prepared for some of the rubber components to be past their best due to age in particular the rubber intake boots and all vacuum pipes across the engine. Also get yourself a code reader in your toolbox a lot of us use the Creator 310+ together with a 20pin to 16pin cable changer so it plugs in to the engine bay round diagnostic socket that reads all modules. Alll you will ever need to know can be found on this Forum. As we are Worldwide suggest you update your location and car model so it appears in your User details, saves you typing them in each time and you may have other members close by who can lend a hand if needed.

Many thanks for that, it is being bought back to life slowly and carefully having been only used for a few hundred miles each year in the summer, I had been looking for diagnostic kit for it so thanks for that

Hey Brian, I too started out with a Mazda, mine was a Euros (MX5 Import) in what was close to British Racing Green. Great little cat it was. Next came a Z3, then an E85 Z4 and currently an E89 Z4.

Tony.

I had three mx5s a very early 1889 uk 1600, then a 7yr old 2.5 which turned out be in the early stages of serious rot, followed by an import that was pretty good, but my wife never really liked any of them, then recently had around 5k to play with and began looking for something interesting! Mx5s at my budget were invariably hiding rot, Boxter’s. Were to complicated and probably money pits, same for Alfa spyder’s and mgf’s which left a z3 or z4. In the end it was the more old school and simpler z3 and then just finding the best I could in my budget. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice a car I could get and believe that the one I bought is probably as good as you could get, so far very very pleased with it
