I bought the car before the winter.... instant problem I have with the rear window, I thought it may well be original the stitching along the bottom on the inside has come away between stiches in some places only slightly.

Anyway the water drips in from that point I know.

I thought of other ways to seal the "trough" where the water sits after a downpour and came to no real conclusion and so I decided to by a new window :/....

It has no beading? Isn't that pretty much integral?

Anyway I would be greatful to hear others stories.

I think the doughnut needs doing and the gearchange isnt all that smooth either, that makes me not get on with it so well, I am sure it's all wear and tear.

Hello @angelfish and welcome to the forum from Probus. Where in Cornwall are you? Are you having a go at fitting the window yourself?

Hello Jack, I work in truro so not too far from you. I will be fitting the window myself however as you read the one that arrived is of no use to me, I'm pretty sure the beading is integral to the seal.?

To be honest I've never looked that closely. As far as I'm aware mine is still the original window, but I've got a hard top fitted for the winter so I can't check if mine is the same.

There are loads of technical guys on here who would know though so it's just a matter of waiting for one of them to see this thread

@angelfish :welcome: to the forum from West Cumbria. Had a new rear window fitted to mine this year. The hood needed a fair bit of stitching also. Soft tops in Coventry did mine for £240 all in and a good job to boot.

Thanks for all your inputs, I am handy and I know I can do the job myself. I just need to source a propper window I guess :p

Welcome aboard from Mansfield. Must be a hard ride running on 19's. I've got 18's on mine and find it a bit harsh. Hope you get your window sorted soon. From what I've seen it's not an easy job to get right so good luck!

On the ride front I was used to an mgtf so it feels quite smooth not too different from my dads old x type tbh.

Welcome from Canada! Does the window you have with the car have a zip in window? If not then the hood has been replaced by an aftermarket at some point as no one I'm aware of does a zip in as original. It sounds like the new window is a sew in type and you would likely need to remove your hood to get it stitched in properly. If you are ready for a new hood this is probably your best option. If you have a zip in window you can purchase a replacement from Germany that several members here have used. About £80 plus shipping I think. They sell all the time through eBay so should be able to find them easily. PM ME if you have a zip in as I have one in the UK I have no use for as I've bought a new top for my car with a stitched in window. Good luck! JIM

Thanks Carman, I have fitted the new window, I'm not sure what all the hype is. I fitted the window with ease the only major issue was the zip, getting it to start and I missed a few teeth, now all done. Very happy with the finish.
