I booked a tip run today and went down in the wifes little peugeot 207, on the way home heard a rattle coming from the engine bay, thought to myself that doesnt sound good. Then noise changed and temperature started to rise pulled over immediately, looked under the bonnet and the fan belt had snapped.
Rang the RAC to have the car recovered to my home and they said due to covid 4 hour wait, but shouldnt be that long.
4.15 minutes later here comes recovery.
Absolutely shocking i was a mile from my house. Didnt want to risk driving further as didnt want to cook it.
Think im going to go with the AA now after this crappy service

Wouldnt like to chance it, as wouldnt like to do a head gasket

Can't see a car overheating in a mile from cold though.

Why chance it when the water pumps not working,
Due to the snapped belt. Then if i got caught at traffic lights and it starts to get warm, its b*******.

Do you remember the days when we always kept a spare fan belt in the boot, of course you could actually see the fan belt then, rather than just a sea of black plastic.

Yes good times, I ordered one from amazon next day will be here tomorrow buy anything from amazon these days
