I don't think very many of this lot will be any of my original tools from when I started work in 1973 as my garage in Gainsborough was robbed in 1994. However since then I have a amassed a comprehensive set of tools and even now there's still something new to make life easier. The top (red) cabinet I used to be able to lift and carry on my own, doubt if I could these days and probably won't try !

The yellow Snap-On roll cab. I bought about 12 years ago soon after starting where I work now. I got it cheap as the original buyer only wanted the "Top" box of the pair and not every one likes yellow @BMBabe, me, I like it.

And hung on the end of the roll cab is a side cabinet of a nondescript American make which is full of junk mostly.

These are my "work" tools, my home kit is not quite as good but I'd rate it adequate.:)

Tony.

Nice collection Tony few quids worth there wouldn't want to be buying it all at once.
I still have a couple of bits left off the 1st set i had in my yts .
And i still have the tool for doing valve stem oil seals on ford cvh engines ( without head removal ) Bought that in my early 20 's ( haven't used it in years right enough)

Same here with CVH valve stem seal tool Steve. In the 8th? pic there's a 1/4 drive socket set I bought from a supermarket in Gainsborough 40 years ago, it's an original Kamasa set and the only none original bits are the ratchet (Snap-On £45) and two Mac Tools sockets 8mm and 10mm which I lost, did not spit or wear out. A lot of memories in those boxes mate.

Man I'd love to have my tools a organised as yours, but looking through your collection the ones I fancy that I haven't got are in the second drawer down of your yellow box in the middle front ...closer inspection required:)

I've got a question for you Tony .
Im assuming you still have imperial sockets but do you still have any imperial spanners.
I used to work in a garage that was an ex rover dealer that was owned by john paton who does the black hacks in Glasgow .
They got into private hire mainly Mondeo diesel i got the job as i was coming from a ford dealer so could teach the guys to work on the 1.8 ford tdi .
Anyway used to have all the older black Hackney and the ( bits and pieces ) metrocab out back so we'd work on them as well but hacks are all imperial so stoll have my imperial spanner and socket sets.

Is there anything you don't have? :D
Had my tools nicked when our first car was stolen off the in-laws drive 35 years ago. It took years to get everything replaced. We did get the car back though.

Top right drawer in the red box and the one below. Imperial and AF sizes mate, a lot of these were donated by a retired chap in Gainsborough who had read about my tools being stolen in the paper and brought them round to my garage in an old Ladies leather hand bag on his pushbike, bless him.
A full rail of 1/2" sockets too in the top drawer of the roll cab. Notice the big Metric adjustable in the bottom of the top box?;)

I had insurance of £5,000 Ian, including my tools and Paul's who worked for me. The Insurance loss adjusters, a company called McClarens from Lincoln made me work for every penny of that £5,000 too. Bastards.

Strange really how when I go on holiday they like me to leave my toolbox keys with the manager, just in case they need anything.;)
