Just did a gentle trip all motorway or A roads 130 miles in my 1.9 140 hp Z3 . It has done 88k miles . I tried not take it above 3000 rpm which is 65 ish MPH. I do not normally drive so slow. It was pretty relaxing some rain showers. I was amazed to get 40.65 MPG. That was brimmed tank to brimmed tank so pretty accurate. It must mean every thing is running pretty well engine wise. I have recently done oil change ,plugs and air filter.

If it was a six cylinder model I would be ashamed. Its pretty slow for a 140 hp in a 2 seat roadster. I think they ignored any weight reduction ideas. It must hold the record for slowest Bond car ever.

I got similar when doing a 500 mile run from Scotland back home a couple of weeks ago! It is impressive what they're capable of.

yep agree mine is doing that or even better on occasions... 1.9 m44 115,000 miles. I have torque app setup so i can see throttle position and can set audible alarms so if it goes over a certain throttle level it alerts me, also the app shows instantanious and average mpg fuel flow in litres per minute.. and warnings set if engine temperature goes over a set point so handy when driving and in stop start traffic to see real engine temperature...

The 1.9 I have on a mixed commute (60/40) Motorway/A road does about 34 mpg. I think on a decent run it would do 40 mpg if kept below 70 mph.

Not a Z3, but I’ve had as high as 32mpg out of the Z4MC (tank to tank) on a steady run from Calais to Nurburg.

Lowest I’ve seen is about 6mpg at Cadwell Park.

Average is about 27mpg.

If your car is tuned right, it should get very good comsumption when you bimble and very bad when you give it maximum welly.

I used to get 26 on a bimble and 15 on the track, now it's 29 on a bimble and 12 on the track :D.

40mpg sounds very good to me. What do you get when you thrash it? Hopefully, you are in the teens.

Getting 18mpg currently but I know low/mid-30s is possible on a relaxed run at sub-70

Very much in the smiles per gallon camp:thumbsup:

For the first time in ownership, my 2.8 hit 30.4mpg. I was actually so proud since 22 mpg was all it was getting.

With a bit of a tailwind and a bit downhill 45+ might be achievable. The m44 is a great wee engine.
