Hello fellow Z3 owners,

i have a 99 Z3 coupe 2.8 supercharged, manual tranny with 3.15 gears as a stock setup. I have located a differential with 4.10 gears and I'm wondering if anybody has made this swap with the same year transmission that I have.

Questions:

1. Do you feel the 410 gears are too steep making the lower 2 gears too fast to go through Or do you think they're fantastic and neck snapping amazing?

2. What are your RPM's at 70 and 80 miles per hour in 5th gear?

3. Do you have any regrets switching over to the 410

4. The swap seems pretty easy to do and I plan to do it myself. Are there any things to look out for during the swap?

5. Any additional comments or tips or general information about driving with the 410's?

I've located one for $500 And plan to keep my stock one in case I don't like them.

Thank you for any feedback you can provide.

Best...David

You will not like the the 4.10. Far too low geared.

One of my Z3's has a manual and 3.46 diff. 3,000 rpm = 100 kmph (60 mph) in 5th gear.

Ty for the response 🙂 I'm at about 2700 RPM at 60mph. Perhaps I'll look for a 3.56. Seems like 410 May only be good for the drag strip òf which I don't really plan on doing except for maybe one day just to see what my stats are

If you 4.10 it, I would change the ZF gearbox for a 6 speed ZF box. The 4.10 swap is quite common on the S54.

Thanks Lee, makes sense as I knew some of the z's had them. I should find an S54 model for sale and test drive it to see if it's much different than mine. My girl pulls incredible even to 130mph. Had to back off due to traffic lol
