Congratulations lovely looking zed
Even from a cold start. ?
All engines are potentially massively over cooled for our climate. The fan should only engage in very extreme conditions here, and one that does consistently is faulty whether it has been replaced or not. When engaged they sap power and reduce mpg. I am on my 4th Z3 and I have never had the fan engage yet. It does not spoil this beautiful car but it would drive me nuts.Even from a cold start. ?
That's how I thought they should work Tony. All engines are potentially massively over cooled for our climate. It’s a really exotic looking car in that colour and those wheels. Must feel very special to to drive but what a pleasure to look at! You can’t be a shy type driving around in that, bet it gets loads of positive attention. Thanks for all the comments chaps, I've been stood looking at it every eve after getting home from work - better than telly. Jimmy is a seriously nice chap, firstly I'm amazed at Jimmy selling it, I felt his pain. Secondly that he gave me the opportunity. I hope a Z4 coupe brings him equal pleasure. I was also given loads of extras thrown in - 'M' bonnet gills, leather boomerang console trims etc etc. I added it to my existing multi-car policy with agreed value certificate & unlimited mileage for just an additional £40!!! Just need to get some use afore winter looms - if anyone fancies a tootle up the peaks or whatever let me know. May well keep my 2002 1.9 also as I'm not afraid to use that in the rain - not salt though. View attachment 87764
Definitely something wrong, a properly used 2.8 should give no more than 25mpg on the motorway and 15mpg on A/B roads. The computer showed 39mpg on the run to Torksey, admittedly bumbling along the A46 @ 60mph just to see what it would do. On the run itself after cancelling showed 38mpg, but then how accurate is it? My 1.9 will show 50mpg but actually does 42mpg consistently. A brim to brim test will show, only for curiosity purposes just to see what it can do driven sensibly.
Just a dust cover looking at the pics. Looks toptastic! It’s a really exotic looking car in that colour and those wheels. Must feel very special to to drive but what a pleasure to look at! You can’t be a shy type driving around in that, bet it gets loads of positive attention.
Our old house had a drive behind it so I use to park the Z ‘just so’ I could see it when sat in the lounge!!
Now it’s just on the drive in front and the locals think I’m a bit odd standing and looking at it so I wash it instead....you better talk to @Andy McDonnell and @Mac Romans for detailing tips...that’s if you don’t break it lol. I know a couple other owners with that same colour, I’m sure they’d be up for saving some bits of that heap
I’d keep the 1.9 as a winter hack if you can afford / have the space. I used mine over winters and on the clear days I loved it but the rest of the time I was crying inside going over the horrible potholes, mud and stoneships from the grit etc..
No mate, just the viscous fan.Are you talking electric air con fan Steve? Fiji has air con.
