I had confirmation from the insurers on the agreed value today, following me sending them pictures and info last week.
In the agreement letter, they asked if I wanted to increase the value, which I thought was bizarre.

Only problem is it comes at a cost. If I increased the agreed value, the premium goes up. Nothing is free in life!Good news, it's obviously worth more than you think it is
OK. And having wrestled with the angry snake - what did you do with it? I don't see your heater controls in any of your pictures?
Heater controls are below the centre gauge pod. Three 'choke knobs' on braided wire. All are push/pull. One for heat, one to adjust the internal flap for windscreen or footwell vents. The third is a dud in my case, as the amount of aggro to connect it to the other flap wasn't worth the negligible benefit.
The BMW heater has a little microswitch which opens and shuts a solenoid for water to flow around the matrix. I couldn't find a way of re-using this, so mine has water flowing around the matrix at all times.
The vent controls are the three central ones. Far left is an aux socket, far right is the hazards and the other is the fan speed switch. I don't have an A/C switch as I didn't want it.

On a standard (ie non messed with zed) how is that water flow valve controlled? I expected it to be a pull/push cable that could partially open close the valve - but you called it a solonoid. So is it just fully open or fully closed? Is there a thermostat that opens/closes it based on the position of the blue-red knob.
So in your case it's always fully open and you avoid cooking in summer by simply closing the flaps?
