Hi Guys I thought I should let you know how far I have got with the arrangements for the weekend.
I have a number of clues worked out for the Saturday which should mean that no one can get all the clue's covered. I have also selected an initial destination for a small cruise to a surprise "kicking off point" where we have a room set aside for a Devonshire cream tea which will cost less that £5 per head. We will leave the Hotel about 9:15 and I plan to hand out the clue sheets at 08:00 at breakfast in Hartland Quay Hotel. the arrival for Cream Tea is planned for somewhere about 10:30 to 10:45 then I will release everyone to the navigational scatter event.
Then one of the clues is for our Lunch destination which you are targeted to arrive at 13:45 and if you are early or late I will deduct points (I will be waiting there for people to arrive). We then have some sandwiches sausage roll etc as a buffet and tea/coffees which will cost around £10 a head then we will also have another (yet to be selected) stopping point in the afternoon again with a time to be there with the idea that that is another meeting for socialising.
I intend to hand out the clue sheet at breakfast on Saturday and let people mull them over (I hope without talking to others about the clue solution) as I think it will add to the fun. I also have some sponsorship again from Wersterly and am hoping they will provide a prize for the car that gets the highest number of points by solving the largest number of clues. I have driven many routes for solving the clues and can say that you will drive some great roads and meeting up and talking about the roads and suggesting which clues are favourites for the roads will I hope be enough rather than discussing the clue solutions. I will be supplying "cheat sheets" in sealed envelopes but there will be penalties if they are opened up. The Saturday is the big day with a smaller set of clues for the sunday which I have not yet done so that we can end up at a carvery on the Sunday which is £8-75 and then a prize giving like last year where the prises are awarded finishing about 15:00 ish. so that those that have to travel back for work can and others can continue to drive the roads around Exmoor.
I also hope to have time to create a slideshow of the answers so that people can see what they missed.
I hope this all sounds good
