Hi Guys I thought I should let you know how far I have got with the arrangements for the weekend.

I have a number of clues worked out for the Saturday which should mean that no one can get all the clue's covered. I have also selected an initial destination for a small cruise to a surprise "kicking off point" where we have a room set aside for a Devonshire cream tea which will cost less that £5 per head. We will leave the Hotel about 9:15 and I plan to hand out the clue sheets at 08:00 at breakfast in Hartland Quay Hotel. the arrival for Cream Tea is planned for somewhere about 10:30 to 10:45 then I will release everyone to the navigational scatter event.

Then one of the clues is for our Lunch destination which you are targeted to arrive at 13:45 and if you are early or late I will deduct points (I will be waiting there for people to arrive). We then have some sandwiches sausage roll etc as a buffet and tea/coffees which will cost around £10 a head then we will also have another (yet to be selected) stopping point in the afternoon again with a time to be there with the idea that that is another meeting for socialising.

I intend to hand out the clue sheet at breakfast on Saturday and let people mull them over (I hope without talking to others about the clue solution) as I think it will add to the fun. I also have some sponsorship again from Wersterly and am hoping they will provide a prize for the car that gets the highest number of points by solving the largest number of clues. I have driven many routes for solving the clues and can say that you will drive some great roads and meeting up and talking about the roads and suggesting which clues are favourites for the roads will I hope be enough rather than discussing the clue solutions. I will be supplying "cheat sheets" in sealed envelopes but there will be penalties if they are opened up. The Saturday is the big day with a smaller set of clues for the sunday which I have not yet done so that we can end up at a carvery on the Sunday which is £8-75 and then a prize giving like last year where the prises are awarded finishing about 15:00 ish. so that those that have to travel back for work can and others can continue to drive the roads around Exmoor.

I also hope to have time to create a slideshow of the answers so that people can see what they missed.

I hope this all sounds good

I have also just spoken to Jill at Hartland Quay hotel and she still has a couple of rooms and the Annex is also available so if your thinking about it and have not signed up please just give Jill a ring and quote Zroadster.org she will make sure you get the deal. I am hopeful that the weather may hold, Hazel and I have already had some great top down driving.

Hartland Quay hotel telephone number is 01237441218.

Yes I have to say I have put in loads of miles trying to make sure that the Saturday is as good as I can make it for everyone. I have to say that of course I am doing things that I think I would like, and assuming others will enjoy as well. In talking to one of the establishments they have suggested that they could do a proper murder mystery weekend so I will chat to people over next weekend to see if they fancy it.

I should say that I do apologies to everyone that I have been rather busy and not even been on the forum much. For my sins mu OU course was starting to suffer again so I have asked David (chairman of BMWCCGB) to relieve me of duty for the Silverstone classic and he has agreed to pull the work back to the office and let me off the hook. I will still be helping out but hopefully it will allow me to recover my studies and also start to enjoy things a little more.

Yes! as I said earlier looking forward to seeing you. My plan is to be at Hartland Quay chatting to people Friday evening so depending on timing might be better to meet up there.

Start is at breakfast 08:00 am on Saturday at which point I will distribute the clues with a plan to leave the hotel somewhere about 9:15

If anyone has not signed up and is thinking of coming the hotel still has spaces just call jill on 01237 441218 and quote Zroadster.org to get our preferential rate.

For those that are already signed up and/or are locals the idea is to start at Hartland Quay Hotel at 08:00 on Saturday with Breakfast at the hotel where I will distribute the clues while people are eating so that they can start to solve the location clues.

We will then plan to leave the hotel at about 9:15 to a mystery destination I have selected where we will have a cream tea at about 10:45 for less than £5.00 at that stage I will release people for the scatter event to seek out answers to the clues. I will explain more when we get together on Saturday morning.

During the day we will all meet up for lunch which is a buffet style lunch which will cost us £10 and consists of tea/coffee Sandwiches and something warm like sausage rolls. in a dedicated room. I will have a voucher designed that I will exchange for the money so that at the establishment I can do the paying and they will know who is entitled. This is targeted for 13:45

We will also get together again for a further cuppa at about 17:00 where I shall collect the answer submissions for scoring later at the hotel.

Evening meal will be back at the Hartland Quay Hotel where after everyone has eaten we will adjourn to the private area and I will run through the answers for those that want to.

Sunday will start at about the same sort of time as Saturday but I will brief everyone Saturday when we meet up. the main points are a cuppa slot is booked and a Carvery lunch is also booked and a later cuppa slot as well.

If you have questions please do not hesitate to email or phone me for clarification.

Regards

Duncan
