Hello Thanks for looking.
I need my garage back. So decided to sell the Z.
I got it from a friend about a year ago. It was sitting outside and starting to look a bit sad with the rear window blown and water getting in. It started and ran ok so i drove it from Bedfordshire back to Anglesey and it drove fine.
The DSC light was on, also the ABS light. The brakes work fine and I haven't noticed any problems with traction but I have driven normally (no racing)
The electric seats didn't work and the battery was losing charge overnight.
I fitted a new rear window and went about trying to find the faults with DSC etc (joined this forum and got plenty of guidance, Thanks to all )
Took it to a local garage who put it on their diagnostic kit and told me the fault code 5E30 Transverse sensor. Located under carpet on passenger side.
So, seats out (lol , simple job once you have help from here) I'm now an expert at removing seats.
Turns out that there was a swimming pool under the carpet.
Removed all the water and dried it all.
Why BMW put electronics under the carpet only they know, but still, that's where they are.
On removing the seats I noticed the seat connecter block was corroded so cleaned all the contacts and the main live feed was broken/shorting so I have fitted a simple spade connecter and both seats now work in all directions. And the battery holds a charge.
I purchased a C110 and this is what it reads
I have been looking for replacement sensors and have found they are available (ebay and other sites)
The No on the transverse sensor (some people call it a Yaw sensor) is 34526754289 from £80 S/Hand or £125 refurbished
The No on the accelerator sensor is 1096326-2119A (bmw part no 37146781405) UK from £40 S/hand, from America from $60-$120
Other faults with the car, I broke the passenger side door mirror by squeezing past it (or not) in my small garage, found 1 on ebay the seller wants £125 but it is the right colour so simple bolt on. There seems to be a few being broken but they are all a fair distance from me to go and look at.
When I first start the car (from cold ) it sometimes stalls a few times but after a few minutes (warms up) it idles nicely. I suspect the MAF sensor.
I changed the oil + filter plus the air filter.
There are some light scuffs, scratches as expected with a 20 year old .
I have lost interest in the car and living on Anglesey I am short on sunshine..... And i need the garage back for other projects ..
I would consider part ex for a large motor bike, 500cc plus, otherwise priced to sell at £1500.
I have many photos but viewing is highly recommended. Located Anglesey North Wales. I have access to a trailer so could help with delivery as it's on a SORN but the deal must be done and paid for.
Any questions please contact me on 07971217668 or through this site.
