2001 Z3 3.0 Master Cylinder

I’ve been trying to source a new master cylinder for my 2001 Z3 3.0 with DSC. Not having much luck as these seem to be very rare and rebuild kits are not available either. Ideas are welcome. Thanks.

There are a couple on eBay but they say they are for 3.0L from 2000-3 WITHOUT DSC. I didn't think they made any M54-engined cars without DSC, as DSC replaced ASC when the M54 was released.

Yes, very confusing. After market parts catalogs documentation is horrible and conflicting. I did find a NOS one on eBay but the internal seals are bad, and no way to rebuild. The search continues…thank you.

The difference between the ASC and DSC master cylinders, is that the DSC has 2 pressure sensors on the side of the master cylinder.

Find one on E-Bay that looks the same as your one with the pressure sensor ports and go for it.

Alternatively, the seals in the master cylinders are pretty much the same for the same diameter of cylinder. Measure your cylinder accurately and see if you can find a set of seals to match.

Thanks for your response. I appreciate it. The thing I’m finding is my DSC has the 5th port on the bottom side.( See pic attached). That’s the challenge as no one carries these. For a rebuild, the snap ring will need to be cut off or find a way to remove as it has no holes for a snap ring pliers (see pic).

I usually throw these away as they just don't sell. Of course, I sold the one I didn't bin last week. About 30-40 quid is all they're worth.

All Z’s were built in the States, so hard to find parts are usually easy to find there, certainly cheaper prices, and usually faster delivery.
