Hi, nope just the 3.0 at the moment. There was a difference before between the 2 and now a big difference. I did it after reading Mike Fishwick's Z3 write up. Buying a Z3 - General Info. Hopefully that works as a link
Okey doke, I'll have a nose at that but I think I'll have it done anyway and give it a try, then onto the suspension 😁

Has anyone seen any gains with schrick camshafts? Looks like they can be had for £1100.

I have a '99 2.8tu which came with the 3.0 intake manifold when I bought it, not sure if any other mods, nothing obvious I can see other than SAP delete.

Mines a 2.8TU and I did the 3.0 manifold conversion. I took it to be remapped and it was at 200hp prior and 220hp after the remap so a 10% gain. Honestly I don't think it feels much faster than my Dads 2.8 which hasn't been remapped. Down the strip at Santa Pod I was around a second quicker each run, but I can't tell if that was the car or my driving

I was told I should see a small increase in fuel comsumption also but it's only been getting worse. I am lucky to get 21 mpg out of it but I don't do long distances, only 3 miles to work and 3 miles back each day and that's driving it like a granny. It's obviously better on a run. I would like to get it on a proper rolling road to see the actual figures as it was measured on a portable rolling road which attaches to the wheel when I had it remapped, but I believe the system he uses is very advanced and accurate. It did seem to drive better through the rev range though and got rid of a small flat spot I had.

Who mapped it? It shouldn’t be worse on fuel if it’s mapped correctly.

I've remapped many cars and have never seen an increase in fuel consumption and that includes turbo, N/A and diesels. Always had an increase in MPG

Mine has stayed the same on MPG. 37-40 on a run low 30's about town, never dropped below 30. That's a mixture of steady and 'spirited' driving. It wasn't slow before but banning speeds can come up very quickly...

That was your mpg before the remap? That's impressive. My long-term mpg according to the OBC is perpetually around the mid-20's and I can get 31 on a motorway run at 70. My engine must be broken, because I don't consider myself a particularly spirited driver lol

My 3.0 does nowhere near that "spirited driving" returns around 7mpg and driving like miss daisy I'll get around 22-26mpg

The spirited driving is more like short bursts, overtaking or nice fast sections of A/B roads. However on the way back from a show recently I had to catch up with the mrs.who was in the 2.8, so about a 8-10 mile stretch of dual and Mway at a very spirited pace, and it dropped to 32 but, I slowed back down to 60-65 and by the time we got home it was back to 37. No doubt if I drove harder more it would drop a lot, but for me it's more about cruising along 95% of the time, with a bit of fun thrown in to keep the blood pumping!

Is yours a 3.0 and remapped? That is very good MPG as I get around 35 out of the 2.5 Z4 cruising.

Hi yes 3.0 remapped. It was the same before the remap but is now a lot more responsive in the low and mid range power. It just wants to go...

I must have a serious issue with mine then if you can get 37-40. I'm down about 10-15mpg compared to you!
Are you calculating yours on the display or actual mileage vs litres used on fill up?

This was the conclusion I came to ha. I’m going off the OBC. Best I’ve ever had was 34mpg doing 50 through m’way roadworks.

Generally I’m much closer to where you are, i.e. mid-20s, just driving sensibly around town.

Just the display. It might be out but might not. I'm not that nerdy to measure against litres, no offence to those that do, I'm sure it's hours of fun 😁 but it seems to tally with the fuel I put in. It's just the miles per pound that's gone down lately!

I had my M52 2.8 remapped after doing the manifold conversion. To me, the biggest advantage has been the boost in mid-range power where it pulls strongly now but was previously a bit flat.

To make more power you usually need to burn more fuel. That's why you probably see a consumption increase. The dme on m54 and m52tu tries to maintain 14.7 afr. Max power is closer to 13 to 13.5. So if you use wot you are going to burn more fuel. Remaps are not magic. Just science. Air plus fuel = power. More power means more fuel. The calorific value of air is not high...
