I'm gong to change the gearbox oil soon, however I can't seem to find a definitive thread / how to on here, can anyone offer any advice please?

You will need to be able to lift all four corners of the car Simon so that you have it sitting level to drain it and more importantly to refill to the correct level. Also make sure you can remove the filler/level plug BEFORE draining the old oil.
I have two trolley jacks and a pair of axle stands. I start by lifting under the diff. casing using a rubber pad to protect the diff. When high enough I put stands under the rear jacking points on the sills. When lowered onto the stands I place the two jacks under the front jacking points and lift until the car is level.

Hi Simon, a lot of people use the squeezy, squirty bottle which you buy the oil in but this is a very messy and wasteful way of doing it. I use a large (approx. 1 ltr.) syringe to fill the gearbox. we recently bought one at work from Andrew Page (Lincoln) which is a Sealey product and available on eBay amongst other sellers. This is the cheapest one I found, these are 200ml. capacity.

These are also useful for emptying the brake fluid resevoir or power steering etc.

As you can see from the above post, I've changed the gearbox oil this evening. To say it's made a difference would be a bit of an understatement and if advise anyone thinking of doing it to do so! The gearbox is now silky smooth.

This is what came out:

For those thinking about doing it, I got this from ECP:

The box takes 1.3l or fill the box until it starts to overflow. As the oil didn't have a nozzle on it I used a hose and funnel from above the car - just route it down past the exhaust manifold (if you've warmed the car up - be careful) and let gravity do the rest.

Next up is the fitment of this hat for the little lady but that's for another night.

Note: the plugs are 17mm

Getting my gearbox oil changed out of precaution as it's a 1997 and has never been done as far as I am aware no proof on the service bills.

Decided to change the weepy rocker gasket - all looks fine with no wear on the lobes There's a bit of cleaning to do though!
