Hi guys

I'm thinking about buying a cheap late Z3 2.2 sport roadster, whats involved in swapping the engine for a 3.0 M52 engine. Has anyone on this forum done this conversion ?
my Questions:
Are the gearboxes, diff (ratio), brakes, exhaust etc the same ?

I think @Lee is your man

Second that @Lee is your Zedder for this question

Diff ratios are different but use the same 25% LSD lock. The brakes are bigger on the 3.0 also the drive shafts are different.

Gearbox is the same and the engine mounts and gearbox mounts are the same. It's a straight forward swap if you have a donor car.

Thanks Lee

I think the 2.2 final drive is shorter so would make for a properyl lively 3.0l

The 3.0 L is a M54 engine as is the 2.2 L engine. They have the same DME but you'll need to get the DME tuned to feed the right amount of fuel into the 3.0 L engine.
