1997 1.9 thermostat

It looks like my thermostat is on the way out in my 97 z3 1.9 (
I've noticed the temperature gauge falling slightly on a few motorway trips, with the heater going cold at the same time. Slowing down into traffic saw the warmth restored but I think the thermostat is beginning to fail. :-? The thermostat looks easy enough to change and the thermostat itself is around £33 best price I can find from GSF because you have to buy the housing as well X( What I do need is a little advice on how to bleed the whole system properly and any tips anyone has would be appreciated

i had to rip the thermostat out of mine to make the run a couple of weeks ago.............refilled the system by opening the bleed screw at the top of the radiator and filling it as normal through cap while it ran until full (with heater on full) job done...right or wrong it worked........still need to get a new thermostat but worked for a quick fix
