We seem to be talking past one another. The armrest is most certainly not part of what I'm calling the door card. The door card, as I understand it, is the almost figure-8-shaped upholstered piece that's attached to the interior door panel with melt points at the factory. There are no fasteners...

I don't mean the upholstery itself, I mean attaching the door card to the interior door panel, after the card is already finished being covered.

After hydro dipping my center console with a carbon fiber pattern, I need to reupholster my door cards to match (or at least look better with the CF)... For clarification, I'm just talking about the upholstered door cards, not the whole interior door panel. I'm going to use a marine grade CF...

Hydro dipping was the way to go! Probably installing it this weekend.

Apparently the trim panels have some exposed wood on the back, and it's a gamble as to whether they'll swell and crack after hydro dipping. I'm taking the chance. I'll post pictures either way when I get them back. Should be late July to mid August. Here's hoping.

So, to follow up... I'm sending the parts to Liquid Concepts to be hydro dipped. They do pretty nice work. It'll cost me $600 to $700 USD but It's better than having to redo it every 5 years. I'll be sure to post photos when they come back.

Thanks. I'll look into that ahead of time in case mine goes fubar. Can they do a carbon fiber pattern that looks good, or does the liquid cause irregularities? I've only seen abstract patterns done with hydrodip.

Here are the side pieces... Wrapped with a fine grain leather patterned vinyl. They should frame the CF nicely.

I'm using the 3M adhesive promoter pens. You still think it will lift?
