  • Hi Tony, I have a problem with the boot not fully locking. The soft close mechanism doesn't seem to be working or engaging. When I lock the car on the fob it kind of locks the boot so it won't open but is not fully locked down as it would be if the soft close mechanism pulls it fully down. Is this a wiring issue and how do I check please. Many thanks Dave
    Hi Tony.
I received 4 screw down tabs to hold my two carpets in place. I was wondering if it was you whom sent them to me? I would need an address to post a check or money order to you. Can you help me on this? I received these back in early February 2021.

I suspect it wasn't. Maybe Andy (spurs fan in a coupe)
Hi Tony. Thanks for your messages, they have made me feel most welcome. Lovely car and settings. I love my little zed and the driving experience, especially top-down it is addictive. It has done 82,000 and has been well cared for and comes in velvet-blue metallic with champagne cream leather interior. Also, a colour matched hardtop, cover and stand. Regarding the seat lifters I would like two sets please
    Simon.

Hi Peter, I do these for £20 a pair inc. P&P Thank you for asking. They are easy to put on and I can give you advice if needed. They certainly change the look of the Z4 from the side.

Tony, That is just what she needed, a gentle top with my hammer and away she went. Works fine now. No parts to buy.

Hi Derek, all well here thanks, trust you are too. I just found a post on Bimmerforums from Randy Forbes who says he uses 45NM for these screws.

Hi Tony thanks for the reply, I have cycled the roof up and down many times surely if there was a airlock then when the lines are reversed it should still do the same thing? Yes it's a z4
My roof motor only seems to close but not open, I can push half way then the motor takes over, if ideal the lines over then it opens fine and struggles to shut. I have sent the whole motor back to be looked at by a company who refurbish them same symptoms. I have plenty of fluid in there. I'm struggling to figure out what to do next , one guy said a brand new pump.

I assume we’re talking about an E85 Z4 here, not a Z3?. It sounds like there is an air lock in the system if the motor only drives one way. Is the motor located in the original position or relocated in the boot?

    Hi Tony

    Hi t-tony,

Helping out a friend with a Z3. Has an electrical drain in the instrument cluster.

I saw you post sometime in the past that you have created a tutorial about taking the instrument cluster apart, but I can't find a link. Could you point me to it please?

    Thanks for any information.
