Motopower OBD reader

Just making a post in case someone searches for this information in the future:

My cheap and cheerful OBDII reader, a Motopower MP69038 seems to work absolutely fine on my early (1997) Z3.
They are usually on offer for around £16 on Amazon.
The 20 pin adaptor was £7 on eBay.
Returned a code for camshaft position sensor which is what I'd suspected. Successfully cleared the code so I can see if it comes back etc.
For £23 it will pay for itself if it stops you guessing and buying a sensor you don't need.

(I'll just add MOTO POWER MP 69038 here in case someone searches for those terms).
Thanks all.

Thank you, that is very useful. As 1997 Z3 is OBD1, haven't found an OBD2 one that works. Worth a shot at that price.

I actually got the reader for another car and thought I would try it on the Z3 just in case. Pleasantly surprised.
