Hello, my name is wendi and I have a 2000 z3. When I smogged it last, the shop blew a bunch of fuses. Later it went to another shop because the battery kept dying where the airbags deployed without the keys in the ignition. They put it back together and said my alarm was the battery problem. Codes came up for cam sensor a and after replaced, said cam sensor b was bad. Both have been replaced multiple times but it still runs bad and had same codes. Please help.

Hi Wendi, welcome from me near Lincoln,UK. Did the garage use genuine camshaft position sensors or generic aftermarket ones? Cheap eBay ones are renowned for being faulty. When you say the Airbags deployed, do you mean they went off like they would in an accident or that the warning light came on? It’s possible that your battery could be the problem if the voltage got too low.

The first time the sensors were replaced we did get them off Ebay but this last time we got BMW lifetime warranty at auto part store. I had put two new batteries in it before taking it to the second garage that disconnected my alarm (after needing a third battery). Yes, the airbag went BOOM, and shattered the front windshield just as the mechanic sat in the driver's seat showering him with glass. Fortunately it was the passenger side airbag.
