Hey guys, thought I would tap up the fountain on knowledge that appears to flow through this forum. Being a long time admirer, but not a long time owner of a Z3 I'm still pretty green as to what should and shouldn't be.

So my roof leaks, a little bit. Not too badly but it drips a little at the bottom edges of the rear screen if it's properly raining. I thought the rear screen looked a bit flimsy so a chanced a look at another Z in a car park the other day and noticed it had a rubber seal all the way round the rear window. Mine does not appear to have this!! Can you buy these separately?

Also as a related question. My hood is pretty badly faded, it's all there with no rips and tears but it looks tired and the rear screen is a bit scratched to. Is it worth reconditioning or is a replacement hood a better option?

I've attached a pic to illustrate my missing rubber strip..

Hi Poprin,as far as i know the rubber seal is part of the rear screen so if its damaged or missing it means its new screen time :meh:. I'm sure some one with more knowledge of this will advise you soon ;)

Hello mate. Mines the same, need a new rear window as it's past its sell-by date. A few of the guys on here have had there's done here;
http://www.softtops.org.uk/

As for the roof condition, I'd try this first;

Agree with Andy on Autoglym to keep in good condition. You can re-dye if it has faded too much. Also you can use Brasso to polish out scratches.

Does anyone have any before and afters of Roof Refurb/Refreshes?

Mine could do with this as id prefer not to pay £600 for a new roof.

Sorry for the Hijack,

but I do have some knowledge to share.

A couple of months ago I replaced the rear screen with a non OEM one and it also had no rubber seal, so I guess some come without the rubber.

Connor.

Sorry mate, no real close ups that would highlight the difference. Hope someone else has for you.

No worries mate, did it work well though? my roof has got a bit of the green stuff (not a lot) and has faded slightly in the areas where the roof frame folds.

Very good end result mate. Wasn't to bad to start with but the end result was very good with a clear differance in colour (i.e back to a nice dark black) and beads a treat. Cover up your windows and paint though ad it's a t**t to get off.
