I absolutely love this car. I’ve done some cosmetic things (headlights, tail lights, side markers, blinkers)
Also new head unit and speakers (I’ll eventually upgrade all speakers but so far I’ve done lower lock panel both driver and passenger, and speakers in the door. Just that already sounds so much better.
I joined so I can learn more about the car and meet more z3 owners.

cheers!

Hello - I recently purchased a ‘97 Z3 from NC and brought it home to SC. I’m curious about the speakers you replaced in the doors. I found my passenger door speakers are not working, thinking they are a tweeter and a mid-range as I had them out on the driver side after removing the door interior trim panel to fix the handle that was broken. I have the basic sound system with cassette player. Would just like to have a set of speakers in hand when I pull the passenger door trim and hoping for a direct replacement or at least minimal modifications. Would like to keep the grill and look original. Just wondering if you found aftermarket speakers that fit and what you used. Thanks.

I know this is late.
I went with 1” tweeters I had to just remove and replace. They didn’t sit well so I had my buddy 3D print me a small bracket so they fit snug inside the door where they normally sit. A bit longer than intended.
since then I replaced the footwell speakers, the speakers behind the seat and the woofer speaker.
Not bad work but woofer had fitment issues I had to resolve. everything else was standard R&R.

currently undergoing a soft top replacement that’s taking me a while to accomplish.
