This stone was laid by
Buan Community Council
to remember
The National Eisteddfod
of Llŷn and Eifionydd
2023

The smaller text at the bottom is a poem by Iestyn Tyne, which reads:

This translates to:
It was a summer without equal - from gathering corn
all the country in Bodfel;
there is talk that there is enough to last
in this field to sustain us.
The plaque commemorates the National Eisteddfod, a major Welsh cultural festival, that took place in the Llŷn and Eifionydd area in 2023. The poem likely references the location of the festival, Bodfel, and uses the metaphor of a successful harvest to signify the enduring positive impact of the event.

It's all Welsh to me....including the translation :whistle:

I'm off to Wales next week and I'll have trouble pronouncing the place names now that my chest infection has cleared up, but I like the fact that they have retained their own language and are very proud of it. Terrible to remember that not that long ago children were punished at school if they spoke in Welsh. :(

Something really mAAd happened over the weekend, but I'll leave it to others to tell the tales. The director's cut will be staying in the vaults.

:cool:
