Met Up with Phil and Linda this morning at maggies kitchen merthyr.... by the gurnos :-( and the cars were still in one piece after we left...!!!!

managed to find my prescription sunglasses which i thought i had lost tucked under my seat about 2 or 3 months ago.... grrrrrr... so that was a result....

Anyway after a quick chat.. we got going on a stop start. journey... couple of miles down the road to pontsticill railway station 2nd stop on the brecon mountain railway... had a quick look around the station which was all closed up... very quiet there, we were the only cars there....

2nd leg had another start stop session drove for a few miles past the giant plughole of pontsticill,

past the banks of pontsticill reservoir up the road to the middle of pontsticill reservoir for a cuppa...

then we made our way up the winding road past Torpentau station last leg of the brecon mountain railway...

up, and up then down through the forest section of Abercynafon passing fields full of sheep and lambys, past tal-y-bont reservoir through Aber village and over the canal swing bridge, in talybont...

as time was getting on and we were starting to get hungry we decided to get food at Llangorse lake. in the cafe

Phil was feeling much stronger by this stage.....

had a wander around Llangorse to take in the views, then decided to head back via Talgarth and the lovely winding road down to crickhowell... over the bridge at Crickhowell, and on to Govilon, Gilwern.

For Phil and Lindas last Treat a run up the Keepers... which unfortunately was stuck behind a diesel 4wd of some sort..spewing out soot not very pleasant, with very few overtaking opportunities, and me only having a weedy 1.9 I did manage to get past him followed by Phil in his much more sprightly 3.0 grrr

last stop at varteg to say our goodbyes great morning and afternoon out.. with some great company..

thanks.... Both me and Ang had a great time... much more fun than ironing and emptying dishwashers, cleaning toilet, and general household chores......hehe

Al, Ang....

I much prefer the run down from the keepers than the drive up.. spectacular scenery... and the bend at the bottom is pretty good too...

We saw cyclists last week overtaking cars going down the keepers.... they are Mad... so dangerous...

the train under the bridge was taken by me last year, not today... and the one underneath. was taken sometime last year too.....

The train one... was really a case of real good luck as i could hear the train coming.. and run up to the embankment, camera to Auto or program mode.. and did a quick burst of about 10 pics and one of them came out good... a lot of processing and a little bit of good luck... paid off....

some of the others are internet pics too but the one of Phil is real.... hehe, and the cars together...hehe

Linda and I had a great out today. Went to lots of places we hadn't been to before. A big thank you to @handsomejackuk and Angela for being our tour guides. We must do it again when the sun shows it's face. We are so lucky to live so close to some breathtaking scenery.
