Hi all this is my write up of my trip to zedfest 2016.
It all began at about 2.50 am Sunday morning crawled out of bed after about 4 hours sleep . Little Ray (Dakar 3) packed , fuelled and ready to go . Opened the curtains had been raining everything's wet ( bang goes keeping the car clean)
Left about 3.40am. 1st 75miles dark and wet but roads deserted so soon on m74 south also deserted @Mrs Stevo sleeping so i made good time to the a66 across the pennines to scotch corner
Scotch corner 1st place got out to look at the car not looking forward to as windscreen covered in m&m's ( thats moths and midges not chocolate and peanut ) 178 miles down front end was heading for a fly wrap
Time was still looking good to make ollerton for mini cruise to Shepshed .
Off we set down the a1 again sparse traffic got this picture on route
made ollerton in good time arrived at about 8.30 @Grumpy and @Antm72 already there so after a quick hello it was down to business of cleaning the 250 odd miles of 'A' roads and motorway off the car as must as i could in the half hour or so i had.
So i'd just like to say sorry i wasn't being ignorant to anyone there that i only said a fleeting hello to .
Got to meet one of the other 2 dakars that were going that day @BMBabe (dakar 1).
The 2 Dakars looked great travelling together in the middle of the convoy
Some pictures from my wife who is getting pretty good at the wing mirror shots
A big thanks to @Grumpy for getting us all there without any dramas.
When we arrived it was well organised and we were directed to the area for z3 (well 10 out of the 11 of us were @t-tony had to go with the z4) @Brian H (dakar 2) was already there and Stacey and i were told 2 spaces reserved beside him so the dakars were parked together and even though im a bit biased i thought they looked great together
got to meet and talk to a few people but not as many as l would have liked..
Got to talk to @Don Stephenson about his car great to see it there as I'd never seen one in the flesh
Here's a couple of the pictures i took on the day
This is just a few of the pictures i took a lot of similar pictures of the zedfest write up. We stayed till right near the end as we were going to a hotel that night
I'd like to thank @Davyhoogy for the stone guards and hopefully @Sean d and i have put his mind at rest a bit that work was carried out to remendy the mot fail items.
I had a top day and saw some top quality zeds got to speak to some people I've met and a lot of new folk already have name down for 2017.
After we left it was off to Ashby de la zouch to hotel for some dinner and chill time as been a long day by then.
Monday morning got up to blue sky and sunshine so it was roof down all the way home got stuck for an hour on a66 but ok apart from that . Stopped at Abington services as i wanted to investigate a road I'd seen on sat nav to possibly include in my burns country cruise i want to put together glad i did as it was an amazing road .
But as I have ran out of attachments on this thread i will need to start another. ' Ledhills the return from zedfest. ' .
All in all great couple of days can't wait till Scottish run in a couple of weeks
