Arrived home today after a great weekend at zedfest.

We travelled up on sunday morning planning to arrive at shepshed at the usual 10:00 start time.. but we left a bit later, we missed the start time, and knew that it was cancelled....:confused:.....

arrived in nottingham for 2 nights followed by 2 nights in burton upon trent...

On the Tuesday we checked out of Nottingham to travel to burton upon trent, and had a few hours around wollaton hall park, all fed and watered, made our way to burton upon trent for some more wetherspoons food.. and beer... as if we havent seen enough wetherspoons already, with there being 4 in nottingham, and a further 1 in ripley to visit and one in ashby de la zouch total 400 miles and 7 wetherspoons visited I think cant remember...

also had a planned stop in belper to pick up a big chunk of metal exhaust for one of my motorbikes, and then on to matlock... missed the wetherspooons ther Damn...!!!!!

looking forward to next year got 7 wetherspoons to beat...

Al Angela...

You came to Ripley! Pity I didn't know , could have had a pint. Every time I drive past that pub early in the morning I wonder how people have a full breakfast washed down with beer! Love the breakfast, love the beer, but together.

Have to give a shout out for small family run pubs often with a local guest beer, they really have to work hard to survive,no bulk discount buying.Meanyare hidden treasures. We used to call in one by Llandovery when our daughter was in college at Carmarthen the best breakfast we have ever had they really tried hard with local products, sadly it’s closed.Maybe give a little guy a chance occasionally.

Must agree @miller1098, I'm not a fan of Wetherspoons and I think I've only been in the one here in Ripley once. It's probably the last choice pub in town and there are superb pubs in the locality. The Abbot Ale straight from the barrel at the Dead Poet in nearby Holbrook village is pure nectar!

yeah we only called in ripley wetherspoons briefly for a breakfast, sat outside and noticed a lot of motorbikes coming up and down the road, the fella that I had the motorbike parts in Belper off suggested we go to Matlock, but we had already planned to go Ripley as it was closer and fitted in with our planned schedule for the day... we did however go to Matlock Bath, and parked in the main street full of chip shops WOW !!!!!!... we got out for a walk, and it lashed it down with rain of course we didnt plan for that and got soaked, anyway once it stopped raining we went on our way through to Matlock an off to our travelodge in Burton upon trent for a few days, thoroughly enjoyed the 4 nights away, and will be returning next year to similar area and doing zedfest... looking forward to it..
