Had Andrew from Bristol and the Z4 Forum pay a visit today to delete the Transport Mode his 2.0l went into following bad battery, a common cause for this to happen as the car closes down some of the electrical functions in the car to preserve what power it can with a bad battery. Symptoms are the blower motor only operating on low setting, heated screen being disabled and Air Con being disabled as well as the roof motors. Plugged into the laptop and used BMW Scanner 1.4 to look for fault codes and then used it to reset the Transport Mode back to Normal which restored all of the things that were disabled. Found a few more codes set in some of the modules but once cleared only a duff intake air temp sensor returned which will be replaced. Checked out the live data and discovered that the Maf was not reporting, exhaust sensors also looked a little slow, fuel trims however looked in spec, this may be down to the Maf being duff and its running on default settings, replacement on the cards, oem Bosch or Seimens should solve that. In need of the usual cam cover gasket being renewed, bit of a leak and the usual burn oil smell on the exhaust side of the head. Once these few things are sorted car will be tidy.

Shed in action today with @bombur and his silver 1.9, needed to get it up on the lift to touch up the underside where he has been painting using axle stands at home. The extra lift height the sheds lift has made the job easier. Whilst he was engaged on painting I stripped the rear calipers and gave them a good clean and lubed the slide pins which were found to be dry. Pads still got loads left on them and handbrake seemed fine. Quick check over all the brake lines and hoses or corrossion, all found to be in good order. MOT next week, will see how that pans out, should pass ok from what I saw today. Its going to have a stainless exhaust fitted a few days after the MOT is done.

Was a good day. Thank you for the caliper refurb and check over @colb and use of the shed. Easier rubbing down and painting under your lift rather than 11" ramps- found a few places I missed! Also did rear diff.
Fingers crossed on MOT at start of April and then an early 20th Birthday present for the Zed with a cat back from Pro Speed
