I like the sound of a Z5 but did I hear whispers of it being a joint venture with Toyota so it might be part hybrid.

Looks great. Would be nice to see one in the metal or better still take one for a spin.

I think it looks superb but in a mixed venture with Toyota I wouldn't be interested. Never liked Toyota, ooh and BMW can't use "Z5", it's patented by @Mrs Mint!! :D

Out of all the Japanese brands I like Toyota the most, after all Lexus Is a luxury brand and is really only a re badged Toyota. When you look at the use of different manufacturers engines etc. in different car brands and floor pans etc. Focus = Volvo = Mazda. To get a completely new model off the ground requires some assistance and developement in conjunction with other makers.

Tony.

They all eat out of each others kitchens nowadays as it keeps costs down. I know Toyota are a good car it's just a personal thing for me, always found them very bland and unimaginative.

Can't argue with that Dave, Merc's generally have that effect on me especially the older models but they do build in quality like Toyota do so I would think the Z5 should be a good quality car. Hope so anyway.

There's a few reports about the BMW Z5/Toyota Supra developments.

Looks like each are using their own engines etc and probably their own flavour in terms of body

Looks like many of the current E89 styling cues are being retained but with a soft top as previously reported a few months ago. The release is targeted at 2018, but, I can't see BMW wanting to go so long with a roadster in its line up - thats just letting the competition get ahead.....

Yes - Santa, please feel free to send me one this year (even if its a development car )
