Hello,
I am a newbie from across the pond. My Itch Started with my wife showing me pictures of my old "74" TR-6.
Remembering the good old days with the top down. I drove my 1st Z4M yesterday. Not only do I feel good in it, I look good too!
I will own one soon, possibly by the end of the day. I absolutely love the Montego Blue Metallic. I have been all over the U.S. web.
The car for sale up the road is the right color, great condition ,a fair price and drives like a dream. It is a 2007 Z4 M with 61,000 miles. My big question is there a big difference between a lower milage car ,Say 30 to 40k. Setting money aside and focusing on repair and Maintenace.
I welcome any and all input on the subject.
Thank you in advance

I can only speak to my high miler with 127k miles which I've had for 9 months now. I absolutely love the car, probably one of the few cars I've owned I'd consider a keeper.

When it comes to the M models service history is much more important than standard models. Mileage is a consideration I don't particularly worry about, but I'd not be worried too much between one with 60k and one with 40k.

Most of my experiences are captured in my progress thread from the day I bought it through to today - https://zroadster.org/threads/interlagos-z4m-roadster-the-spicy-meatball.48237

I would say that mileage is irrelevant but proof of a regular maintenance and service routine is essential - even then with cars of this age you are never 100% certain of what you're getting in to but for some that's half the fun.

Similar to you when I had mine I thought I looked good and coupled with the assumption that my driving skills were in the top 5 percentile of the UK population I really was a force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately and much to my dismay the majority of the driving public seemed to have a different perception - which they frequently liked to make me aware of by shouting obscenities or gesticulating wildly at every opportunity.

Suffice to say I sold the S54 and replaced it with something less potent for a quieter, easier and more economical motoring life.

Would I ever go back - in a heart beat ;)

The young bucks over here are all driving thier Japanese cars like, well like young bucks. Staying out of thier way should be a little easier with a Z4m

Still looking. Leaning towards the 30k milage range if it works out. Trying not to let color drive my purchase. Enjoy the weekend

I have my M just one week. I am it's here to stay as long as i am able to drive with the Z3. Its an awsom vehicle although much harder to drive smoothly than the z3 however I have 24 years muscle memory driving the z3 and in think thats a conributing factor jumping into the z4. After some reading and seeing people write about a higher clutch stop making it easier to drive smoothly I did that this morning and it does indeed make a big difference for me.

Good luck. You are going to love it. There is nothing like that s54 noise and for such a highly developed engine it is amazingly flexible. I can start in 2nd, pootle along, shift into 4th, pootle some more and then straight to 6th no problem at all. Not gonna win any races like that but it's all so easy.

Looks like the left hand drive twin to mine, stunning colour👌
Yes sir love the color. I have decided to drive the 6 hours with a car trailer. As good as it looks and with the carfax its to much money not to look it over in person.

Mission accomplished . I drove the 6.5 hours to Maryland. Spent 20 min with the car and knew it was not the one. Looked great in pictures. Good car fax. But had been overly exposed to salt air, is my guess. So glad I didn't have it delivered. I bought the 61,000 mile car in montego blue 20 min from the house. The car has been well cared for and it shows both in appearance and the drive. Oh my gosh, the drive! Tomorrow I will look for the leak in the gas (petrol)tank;) Enjoy your weekend.
