I maybe going to look at a 2009 Z4 on Saturday. Anything major I should be looking for?

I know my Z3 inside and out but only thing I know about Z4's is that some people move the pump for the top on the older ones.

Check roof operation, motor and pump in a different position to that on the e85 so not subject to drowning problems that moderl suffers requiring it to be repositioned to the boot. All the same check out it operates correctley. Engine wise check out for oil leaks around the cam cover gasket and the oil filter housing. If at all possible put a scanner on it to see if any codes are present indicating any problems. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partgrp?id=LM51-EUR-01-2008-E89-BMW-Z4_30i&mg=54

Great cars the E89 especially the interior IMO a vast improvement on the E85. Limited boot space compared with its predecessor but all round a much more mature vehicle. If it looks straight and has a good service record will have usual BMW quality, and a straight six to boot.
Nothing really stands out with these as a real problem usual used car purchase checks as mentioned above.

Hi Delk Mot wise z4 e89 very similar to the 3 and 4 series do on the whole pretty good
Watch for cracked wheels.
Leaking rear shockers.
Correct rear lamp operating.
If Hid fitted again check lights.
Metal brake pipe ends front and rear ( can be a problem on any bmw over a few yrs old )
Bar that exhausts are usually OK
Suspension usually OK but as with anything always things can break.
Check tyres for Edge Wear newer BMW models have multiple adjustments ( so front and rear ) they are bad for rear being out eating inside of rear tyres and front will not be properly right if rear out as a 4 wheel alignment is carried out rear to front .

All adjustment bolts are prone to seize to the metal tube inside the bush at rear and inner tue rods are prone to sticking inside the track rod end .( we heat them at work sometimes and they still won't go )

Stephen.
