Raised the bonnet yesterday and noticed a group of wires (part of the front harness) were/have been catching on the brake servo area and the insulating protective tape worn away leaving the wires unprotected with one thin brown wire to the windscreen washers looking like it’s hanging on by just a few bare wires. Unpicked the old tape and no other wire was affected.
So out with the gas soldering iron and box of wiring stuff. Arrrr what’s this, an unused packet of the latest soldering joiners.
Never used them before but have seen vid on you tube, so 5min later using the wife’s gas ring lighter, jobs a good un. Much quicker than the old way of soldering, I’ve been converted.
Used extra shrink tube over the top just cos I had some handy, peace of mind secure so
taped it all up twice. If your running a Z4 with this type of wiring loom it might be a good idea to have a quick look, just in case. No big deal as mine would only have affected the washers but the wiring loom looks susceptible in this area.
